New EP Pay it Forward
"You don't pay love back, you pay it forward."
~ from Lily Hardy Hammond’s 1916 book In the Garden of Delight-22 this morning at the new SDP digs in Hoback, Wyoming and over four feet of cowboy powder in the yard! We are super grateful to score a log cabin in the woods where the nearest road to the southeast is 70 miles. It has already inspired a degree of exploration, both in the forest and with respect to writing. We used the transition in Oct/Nov to take two months off from the stage and we needed it more than ever. Things in this business can pile up and wear on your psyche, making it a challenge to stay focused on why we do this in the first place—the music and folks like you. It’s time to Pay it Forward.
Pay It Forward EP out January 27
There are a lot of things we did different with the recording of Pay it Forward and we think you’ll hear it in the five songs: The Parade, Pay it Forward, Summer in January, Rest Be Not Forgotten, and Drifter. This is our first record with bassist David Bundy, first time working with our bud Dusty Nichols of Canyon Kids, first album art via Seadar’s fingertips, first time recording in Jackson Hole, and the most live of our four studio releases. The new EP drops commercially Friday, January 27, but we've got something special for you early birds starting today...
Early EP sales to benefit ACLU of Wyoming
Keeping with the Pay it Forward mentality, we are deliberately “leaking” the EP starting today, January 18 before it gets released to traditional outlets like iTunes on January 27. The early release means you can “name your own price” for the digital download at screendoorporch.bandcamp.com, with the proceeds going directly to the non-profit American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Wyoming from January 18 to 26. The issues that the ACLU is focused on in Wyoming are things the band supports—LGBT Rights, reproductive freedom, Standing Rock, and sentencing reform among them.
